Covidien Educational Fund
Supporting FLS Education
Recognizing the importance of improving surgical technical skills and
enhancing patient safety, Covidien, a leading manufacturer of medical
devices and supplies, has created The Covidien Educational Fund. This
generous gift supports the introduction of the FLS Educational program into
North American residency and fellowship training.
Through this grant, FLS is
available to program directors to use as a standardized educational tool for
teaching and verification of learning of their trainees. The Covidien
Educational Fund brings no-cost training and testing directly to over 250
surgical residency programs in the United States and Canada, reaching
thousands of surgeons-in-training over a three-year period, as well as
MIS/HPB/colorectal fellowships for one year. Click here for the complete press release.
Program Directors in Surgery in the U.S. and Canada will soon receive a customized e-mail with a link to an online application and more detailed information about the Covidien Educational Fund and how to apply.
In implementing the Covidien Educational Fund, SAGES and ACS will provide access to the didactic content, an FLS manual skills trainer box with training accessories, plus test vouchers and access to regional or on-site FLS-proctored testing.
