Recognizing the importance of improving surgical technical skills and enhancing patient safety, Covidien, a leading manufacturer of medical devices and supplies, created The Covidien Educational Fund. Started in 2008, this generous gift supports the introduction of the FLS Educational program into North American ACGME-accredited general surgery residency training. This grant has made FLS available to general surgery program directors to use as a standardized educational tool for teaching and verification of learning of their trainees. The Covidien Educational Fund has brought low-cost training and testing directly to over 250 ACGME- accredited general surgical residency programs in the United States and Canada.
What’s New
The Covidien Education Fund extension period is now open for calendar year 2012. All eligible programs that received FLS materials and vouchers through the Fund during 2008-2011 will need to submit a renewal form by March 31, 2012 for the 2012 extension. If your program has not received the link to the 2012 renewal form, please email Christina Rivers at fls@sages.org and include your program name and ACGME number.
At this time, the Fund is providing FLS online access and vouchers for all graduating chief surgical residents (PGY5). If your program would like to purchase any additional sets of FLS online access and vouchers, please download the order form by clicking on the button to the right.
